Assessing NATO-Russia Relations 30 years after: lost opportunities and future directions

Since 1991, NATO's expansion towards Central and Eastern Europe and the Alliance's quest for a new role after the end of the Cold War have been at the center of reciprocal expectations, tensions, recriminations, and misperceptions in West-Russia relations.

The seminar will dissect conflicting narratives in the US, Europe, and Russia about NATO and discuss the degradation of NATO-Russia relations in recent years, of which the closing of Russia’s mission to NATO Headquarters is the latest illustration.
