Francesco Galtieri

Francesco Galtieri (Italy) is a long time professional in international affairs, specialised in conflict prevention and peace-building. A Ph.D. in African Studies from the University of Naples, until August 2016 he was Chief of the Peace Programming Section at UN Volunteers, overseeing 4000 people across 22 countries in Africa and the Middle-East - including the 35% of the international civilian personnel of UN Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions and a multi-million peace-building programme. Previous positions: Senior Portfolio Manager at UNV (2010-2012) for Burundi, Chad, Sudan and South Sudan; UN Coordination Advisor (2006- 2010) at UN DOCO for Sub-Saharian Africa; Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (2005-2006), at UN Burkina Faso; Programme Officer (2002-2005), at UNDP Burkina Faso; Attaché to the Diplomatic Adviser to the Minister, at the Italian Ministry of Defense. He also has an active academic engagement. In 2017, he was Teaching Fellow at Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government on "The Future of Europe" and since 2014 he lectures on Multilateral Negotiations at LUISS School of Government. In the past, he also lectured at the University of Trieste, University of Naples "L'Orientale", ESSEC Paris, the ISIG University of Ougadougou (Burkina Faso). Author of several publications, he speaks fluently English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and has a good command of German.
